New venue for the spring book sale

Mark your calendars for our spring book sale!

   March 20th
   12 pm to 4 pm
   Orrick Law Offices
31, avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie, 75016, Paris

As usual, we will have plenty of books in every category, with paperbacks for only 1 euro and hardcovers for 2 euros.

To donate books please stop by on the day of the book sale and drop them off or contact us at soshelpbooksale@gmail.com to donate large quantities in advance.

We will also be having a RAFFLE this year, so be sure to stop by our raffle desk for your chance to win! We'd like to thank WH Smith for donating a selection of new books, Poonam Chawla of Chal India for donating a 1-hour cooking class, 1 takeaway for 2 people (Vegetarian meal of Basmati Vegetable Pillaf with Lentils), and another takeaway for 2 people (Chicken Curry with Basmati Vegetable Pillaf), and Ruth Levy of Smash Porcelaine for donating a porcelain espresso set.

And don't forget to tell your friends about this great way to get inexpensive books and snacks, meet other people in the English-speaking community, and support our organisation!

We'd like to give a special thanks to Orrick for donating the space for the spring sale. Thanks to their generosity, we will have twice as much space - which means more tables full of books for you to browse!

"Writers at the Residence" was a hit

The event, hosted by Lady Westmacott at the Residence at the British Embassy, was a huge success. The panel was led by Bryce Corbett and featured 5 other prominent writers: Stephen Clarke, Alec Lobrano, Michael Sadler, Heather Stimmler-Hall (check out her blog post about SOS Help), and Charles Timoney. After a lighthearted discussion about life in France, the 200+ crowd mingled with the authors during a reception. We raffled off 7 books signed by the authors and also had the opportunity to purchase books to be signed by the authors.

We want to thank Lady Westmacott, all of the authors, WH Smith, and, most importantly, everyone who attended the event, making it a profitable and enjoyable evening.

We always look forward to meeting new people and seeing familiar faces. Thanks to everyone for their support, both in purchasing items and in donating them. Because of you we earned nearly 5,500 euros!
